4. Florida RN Renewal Guide & FAQ

CE Broker & reporting
The Board renews only when your hours show in CE Broker. Providers with a CE Broker number usually report for you; if one does not, upload the certificate yourself. Check your transcript in your free CE Broker account (or MQA Online → Additional Activities → Report CE/CME) before you renew.
How to renew your Florida RN license
- Finish all 24 hours, including the mandatory topics above.
- Confirm every course shows in your CE Broker transcript.
- Go to flhealthsource.gov and click "Renew A License" (option opens no later than 90 days before expiration).
- Log in, confirm your email, and choose "Renew My License".
- Pay the fee by card online (or mail the summary with a cashier's check/money order).
BLS / ACLS
The Florida Board does not list BLS/ACLS as a renewal requirement. Employers usually require a current card, so check with yours.
Late or lapsed renewal
Renewing after expiration adds a delinquency fee. A delinquent license must report CE for the current and previous cycle, and it becomes Null and Void 2 years after expiration. A Null and Void license cannot be reactivated.
How many CE hours do Florida RNs need to renew?
24 contact hours every 2-year renewal. The mandatory topics (Medical Errors, Laws & Rules, Impairment in the Workplace, Domestic Violence, HIV/AIDS) must come from a Florida Board of Nursing approved provider. The remaining general hours only need approval from a state or national organization that accredits nursing CE. Every third renewal adds 2 hours of Domestic Violence on top of the 24.
Do Florida nurses have to report CE in CE Broker?
Yes. The Department of Health renews your license only after your completed CE is reported in CE Broker. Do not mail certificates to the Board of Nursing. Check that your hours show in your CE Broker account before you renew.
What are the mandatory CE topics for Florida RNs?
